Brief Update
National Drone Safety Day
PG&E showcased its drone inspections of electrical systems ahead of National Drone Safety Day, which is this Saturday, to raise awareness and reassure customers about privacy. The drones are used strictly for equipment maintenance, especially in hard-to-reach areas, to enhance safety. In 2023, PG&E conducted over 4,000 drone flights in Kern County as part of these efforts.

🔴Donate Blood for Tickets🎫
Houchin Community Blood Bank is launching two appreciation promotions from April 28 to May 3, 2025, to encourage donations. Donors will receive two free CALM Zoo tickets and a limited-edition “They Not Like Us” sticker inspired by Kendrick Lamar. All blood types are needed, especially O and A. Donors must be healthy, weigh at least 110 pounds, and be 16 or older with consent. Appointments can be made online at hcbb.com/schedule or by calling HCBB at (661) 323-4222, though walk-ins are welcome.

Great American Cleanup - Designated Locations
The 22nd annual Great American Cleanup returns to Bakersfield on April 26, aiming to beautify over 50 city locations. Volunteer cleanup runs from 8–10 a.m., followed by a celebration at Yokuts Park from 10:30 a.m.–1 p.m. with Mayor Karen Goh and others. Volunteers can register in person through Thursday or on Saturday at designated locations. The event will honor standout volunteers and sponsors. The Downtown Business Association (DBA) will be hosting the 2nd Annual Sound of Bakersfield on Sunday, April 27th. With multiple vendors, music, and activities.
